Palm Sunday PDF Print E-mail

Palm SundayPalm Sunday at St. Edward's is dramatic and moving.  The church is decorated with more than a dozen 15' palm fronds. (We have several palm trees on our property that we prune the a few days before Palm Sunday.)  We spread palm leaves on the carpet and around a focus table at the foot of the Altar.  The congregation enters the church through the front doors to reenact Jesus' entry into Jerusalem.  Our worship includes a dramatic reading of the Passion punctuated by congregational singing that includes a period of solemn silence.  We stand when Jesus' arrives at Golgotha and kneel in sorrow as we remember His death.

Palm Sunday begins our Holy Week journey.  Holy Week is the week preceding Easter Sunday.  Our other Holy Week services include Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

The music through out Holy Week is very uplifting and dramatic.
